Summer is a wonderful time for young flyers to dive deeper into aerial arts. Without the rush of the school year, kids can train more often, try new apparatuses and work on creative projects with friends.

InFlyte offers camps and intensives as part of our programming. Here's a family guide to help you understand the options and choose what fits your child.

Camps vs. Intensives

Camps are generally exploratory. They're a great way for kids to try aerial, experience different apparatuses and have fun in a creative, active environment.

Intensives are more focused. They're designed for students with some experience who want concentrated training on skills, routines or a specific goal. For example, InFlyte's Performance and Competition Teams begin each season with an August Intensive Week, where students build their routines for the year in a short, focused period.

Experience Requirements

Some programs welcome total beginners; others require prior aerial experience or a minimum age. Before registering, check:

  • The age range

  • Whether prior experience is needed

  • What level of skills will be taught

What a Day Might Look Like

While every program is different, a summer day of aerial often includes:

  • A warm-up and conditioning

  • Skill practice on one or more apparatuses

  • Creative time, such as choreography or group projects

  • Breaks for rest, snacks and hydration

  • Stretching and cool-down

Rest matters even more in multi-day programs, since aerial is demanding on grip and shoulders.

Creativity and Teamwork

Summer programs often include group projects: building a group routine, creating characters or working toward a final sharing. Kids learn to collaborate, give and receive feedback and support each other.

Performance-Focused Programs

Some summer programs build toward a performance at the end. These give young flyers a taste of the full process, from learning choreography to rehearsing and performing for family and friends.

InFlyte has a strong tradition of youth productions, including Pan and Oz, that bring storytelling and aerial together.

What Families Should Verify

Before registering, confirm:

  • Dates, daily times and drop-off/pick-up procedures

  • What's included in tuition

  • What to pack each day

  • Whether there's a performance or sharing at the end

  • How staff handle supervision, rest and safety

Preparing for a Summer Program

  • Pack fitted leggings and tops, a water bottle and snacks

  • Remove jewelry and tie back long hair

  • Encourage rest and hydration at home

  • Talk with your child about what excites or worries them
