Puzzle Piece Scholarship

A Piece of the Puzzle

On November 12th of 2019, Paul “Skip” Johnson left this world too soon. Skip, as I knew him was an enormous part of who I am as a teacher today. For 32 years Skip taught music and drama at Hudson High School, and that’s where it all began with me. I was in his drama classes, his chorus classes, and his advanced performance class. Not knowing at the time, I learned so much from him. Skip always gave 100% and it made you, as a student, want to give 100% back. When we did shows, he would spend many late nights figuring out sets, and blocking and music arrangements. He put in the work and you could tell he loved doing it.

Over the years I went off to perform professionally and time spent away from home you forget your roots, or in this case your puzzle. I came home just over 2 years ago and was able to get back into doing what I love, teaching. I found out Skip wasn’t doing well and started to reminisce with friends and family about the good old days with Skip. I didn’t realize until then how much of what I do, I do just like Skip. As said before, I learned so much from him, the puzzle, and I am proud to say that I am a piece of his puzzle. What is even better is that now, every child that I teach, is now a piece of Skips puzzle. So many things that I learned from this great man, I am now happily teaching my students. The puzzle keeps getting bigger and it will continue to grow.

I am happy to say that starting in the new year, for every session there will be a Puzzle Piece Scholarship. One student in every session will be able to take as many group classes as they would like to further their InFlyte Entertainment studies.
Stay tuned for more information about the Puzzle Piece Scholarship.
